Since 1989, Janie Smith has operated a working equine facility in Monroe, North Carolina as a full service boarding and training facility.  She has been an instructor of natural horsemanship, dressage, jumping, working western, first time owners’ education, and a fearful riders program.  Over the last two decades, Janie has developed her ability to teach her principals of balanced riding and natural horsemanship by studying under today’s well known leaders in the fields such as John Lyons, Josh Lyons, Dave Seay, and Pat Parelli and many others.  She has also completed level one certification with EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association).

She has generously shared her horse knowledge and personal experiences in numerous clinics, including the Southern Horse Festival and the Carolina Classic Horse Expo, and collegiate courses that have taught many people how to communicate with and learn from these marvelous animals.  Janie has been an active member of REINS, SHOE, the North Carolina Horse Council, as well as an invaluable volunteer for numerous equine rescue groups across the state.  In 2001, the University of South Carolina approved her as the instructor for their students wishing to learn horsemanship.  Her students participate in AHSA, USDF, NCDCTA and USCTA rated shows in many disciplines.
